На благотворителна вечер на 22 ноември 2011 г. по случай Деня на благодарността в САЩ Американската търговска камара в България събра 60 000 лева за стипендии по проекта „Готови за успех” за ученици и студенти без родители и за финансова подкрепа на проекта „Защитени жилища” за младежи, напускащи домовете за деца, лишени от родителски грижи поради навършване на пълнолетие.

Специален гост на събитието ще бъде новоизбраният президент на България Росен Плевнелиев. Благотворителната вечер е в духа на американската традиция за благотворителност - Ден на благодарността и ще се проведе на 22 ноември, вторник 2011 г. Събитието ще започне в 19:00 часа в Централен военен клуб, бул. Цар Освободител 7, зала Концертна.

Американската търговска камара в България организира работен обяд с министъра на регионалното развитие и благоустройството Росен Плевнелиев на 8 септември, четвъртък от 12:30 ч. в хотел Шератон София, зала Роял. Министър Плевнелиев ще очертае посоката на развитие на българската икономика, нейните силни страни, както и секторите за икономически растеж.

“It is wonderful to see so many people at the American college of Sofia for this great event, said Susan Sutton, U.S. deputy chief of mission on behalf of the American embassy to the guests of the AmCham Independence Day celebration on July 2, 2011. Susan Sutton thanked AmCham for putting together the celebration of America’s birthday. It was the AmCham Bulgaria 17th celebration of July Fourth that made the US community feel at home. US Ambassador James Warlick joined our party later to have a word with most of the guests. Invitees included AmCham members, governmental reps, NGO-s, and artists.

Like the name they bear, the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron "Thunderbirds" challenged the heavy rain on June 25, 2011 at the Graf Ignatievo air base with a spectacular performance before the storm. The audience was fascinated by the show of the eight elite pilots who managed to complete the most attractive maneuvers like “diamond”, “knife” and to do solo performances.

Bulgaria must work on becoming an attractive investment location, advised U.S. Ambassador James Warlick during a conference titled “New Perspectives in the Trade and Economic Relations between the United States and Bulgaria.” The event was organized by AmCham and U.S. Commercial Service in Bulgaria on June 7, 2011 at the Hilton Sofia hotel. The United States is going to be once again the biggest investor in Bulgaria in 2011, Warlick added.

The ninth AmCham tennis tournament, this year supported by Devin brought together twelve teams of the AmCham member companies and 40 keen players, hosted by Gloria Palace club in Gorna Banya during the weekend of June 4-5, 2011. It was the first charity tennis tournament where the companies provided donations to go to the AmCham charity fund. Bulgarian VIP Travel and Gloria Palace players became finalists, with Gloria Palace team (Niki Bojinov, Stoyan Batov) coming on top in a head-to-head battle. Bulgarian VIP Travel team placed second (Dimitar Dimitrov, Dimitar Parvanov, Vladi Alexiev, Zlatan Zhelev).

Американската търговска камара в България съвместно с Търговската служба към посолството на САЩ в България организират конференцията „Нови перспективи в търговските и икономически отношения между САЩ и България”, която ще се проведе на 7 юни, 2011, вторник, Хотел Хилтън София от 9 ч. Конференцията ще бъде открита от министър-председателя Бойко Борисов.

The National Museum of History in Boyana hosted for the first time the official opening of the AmCham-BCAF Volunteer Day on May 28th, 2011that is organized for a fourth year. The media and the volunteers were welcomed warmly by the U.S. Ambassador to Bulgaria James Warlick, Dana Leff-Niedzelska, co-chairman of the committee on corporate social responsibility of the Chamber and manager of PPD, Valentin Georgiev, Executive Director of AmCham Bulgaria, Elitsa Barakova, Director of Aid Foundation Charity in Bulgaria (BCAF), and Nadezhda Angelska, chief coordinator of Program Europe at the Sofia municipality.

Официалното откриване на деня на доброволния труд ще бъде в Национален исторически музей в Бояна в 9 ч. от посланика на САЩ в България Джеймс Уорлик, Дейна Леф, съпредседател на комитета по корпоративна социална отговорност на камарата и управител на фирма PPD, Валентин Георгиев, изпълнителен директор на Американска търговска камара в България и Елица Баракова, директор на Фондация "Помощ за благотворителността в България" (ФПББ).

AmCham Bulgaria and US Embassy-Sofia organized for the first time on March 31, 2011 an exhibition entitled "Travel USA" at Hall 6 of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. The aim of the exhibit was to present attractive travel destinations in the US: New England (Mass, Maine, Vermont), New York, Mid-West (Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin), Southeast (Georgia, Florida), Southwest (Texas, Arizona), Mountain West (Colorado, Utah, Montana), Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Alaska), California, and Hawaii.

AmCham seventh Ski tournament on March 26, 2011 at Borovets resort would be remembered by its renowned participants: we have had for the first time the minister of economy, energy and tourism Traicho Traikov, mission envoys of Ireland and The Slovak Republic, AmCham members and media. “The last seven years proved to be successful for the AmCham Ski Tournament. It is our intention to allocate the fees collected at the tournament to a fund for development of sports programs for orphan children”, AmCham executive director Valentin Georgiev told Bulgarian National TV in an interview at Borovets Resort.

ЕБВР очаква българската икономика да постигне по-добри резултати през 2011 г. с прогнозиран растеж на БВП от 2.6 %. Връщането към по-категоричен растеж идва след рязкото свиване през 2009 г. с 4.9 процента и скромното възстановяване на растежа, приблизителният разчет за който е 0.2 % през 2010 година.

AmCham Bulgaria and Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation (BCAF) hosted March 17 a business breakfast entitled “The Role of CSR in Building the Sustainable and Profitable Company “ with a guest speaker Michael Brophy, Chair of Board of Trustees, Capital Community Foundation, London. Michael Brophy has been founder and a Chief Executive of Charities Aid Foundation for 20 years and under his leadership it grew in the UK from £12 million to £ 1.5 Billion. He was also a founder of Bulgaria Charities Aid Foundation in 1995. Presently, Michael is a Chair of The London Community Foundation. In the beginning of 2010 he was awarded Outstanding Leadership Award at the 2009 UK Charity Awards for his multiple contributions and achievements in the UK and globally. Michael has a sense of humour that conquers everybody.

At its meeting on February 10th 2011 the AmCham Board of Directors elected Peter Lithgow, Executive Director, AES Corporation as president, and Atanas Garov, Managing Director Bulgaria, Colliers International as first vice president. The change has taken place after the elections at the AmCham General Assembly on February 8th, 2011. Thirteen candidates run for the six vacant seats at the AmCham Board of Directors. The three new members of the Board are: Daniel Berg, Director Bulgaria, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Petya Dimitrova, Executive Director and Member of the Board of Directors, Eurobank EFG Bulgaria, and Solomon Passy, Founder & President of the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria.

The AmCham Bulgaria Thanksgiving community dinner on November 23, 2010 collected BGN 28 700 to lend a helping hand to disadvantaged youth through donations for the projects Protected Homes "Together" in the village of Gurmazovo near Sofia, "Agapedia" social centre for adaptation of children without parents in Sofia; SOS Youth Homes in Veliko Turnovo and Sofia. In addition, the event funded stipends for secondary and university students.
