AmCham Skiers Improve Performance Every Year

The fifth AmCham ski tournament in the vicinity of Aleko on Vitosha attracted 90 skiers, among them AmCham members, students and journalists that competed in two disciplines - giant slalom ski and giant slalom snowboard, and in four categories: men, women, children and team. Despite the early Sunday hour of the contest, it brought smiles on every face throughout the day.
The skiers had to show their best at a downhill course in one run only. Moten Sport provided the technical assistance and running commentary. The ski show was covered by the Bulgarian National TV twice for the day, featuring the remarkable contest in a sports program in the afternoon, and in the news prime time at 8:30 pm.
The best results among the women showed Evgeniya Stoichkova, Coca-Cola Company, who finished first. Velina Savova, Pain D’or, came in second, and Teodora Sinilkova, Coca-Cola Company placed third. The Bulgarian Journalists’ Ski Club was presented by three skiers in women category: Veselina Marinova, Bacchus Magazine who placed fifth, Vessela Vladkova, Bulgarian National Radio, and Vasilena Chonova, Bansko Utre Newspaper who placed sixth.
There was a hard competition in the men category too, where 48 participants run neck-and-neck in the single run. Alexander Savov, Pain D'Or, placed first among men, followed by Svetlin Savov, Pain D'Or, and Dimitar Mitev, Technologica who placed third. Among the first ten placed also the skiers of Hilton Sofia, Ericsson Telecommunications, Devin, and Coca-Cola.
The best run time among all skiers showed Alexander Savov and Svetlin Savov with Pain D'Or – 19.46 seconds and 19.55 seconds at the downhill course, and also Petar Deenichin, American College in the children category - 19.55 seconds run time.
All places in the children category were taken by competitors from the American College: Petar Deenichin placed first, followed by Victor Kerezov, and Dobroslav Slavov. The American College students participated with a large group, almost taking the first ten places together with the Pain D’or skiers.
In the snowboard category Alexander Philipov, Adecco Bulgaria won the snowboard race, followed by Dimitar Stoilov, Solutions.bg, and Yana Stoichkova, Coca-Cola.
In the team category Pain D'or took the first place, followed by the American College of Sofia, and the Coca-Cola company.
