AmCham Membership Categories

Any applicant for membership in the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria [AmCham] - company, NGO or individual - which otherwise complies with the AmCham Statutes, may be granted a regular AmCham membership by the Board of Directors, if it is actively engaged in business with a U.S.-based company(s) and can demonstrate a future ongoing business relationship with the United States or U.S. companies and if it meets the following criteria*:

1. For International Members:

i. Registered in Bulgaria company with at least a minimum 51 percent ownership by a foreign entity.
ii. Registered in Bulgaria trade representative office or subsidiary of a company registered outside Bulgaria with its corporate headquarters located abroad listed on a major stock exchange.
iii. Registered in Bulgaria company with foreign owned franchise or license.

2. For Local Members:

A 100% Bulgarian owned or below 51% owned by a foreign entity company registered in Bulgaria.

3. For Associate Members:

Not-registered and not-resident in Bulgaria company registered on a major stock exchange.

4. For Not-for-Profit Members:

 Registered in Bulgaria not-government organization or other not-for-profit entity.

5. For Individual Members:

 Bulgarian or foreign persons.


* The eligibility for AmCham membership of applicant (company, NGO or individual) depends on the Board’s case-to-case decision. Even though it may not meet any of the above listed criteria, the applicant can still be a subject to further investigation by the Board of Directors. If the Board deems the applicant one of strategic importance to the AmCham members, the Board can approve the candidate on this ground.
