Citibank Sofia Wins AmCham Tennis Tournament

The eighth AmCham Tennis Tournament brought together twelve AmCham member companies and 34 keen players in this year’s game hosted by Gloria Palace Club in Gorna Banya during the hot weekend of June 12-13, 2010.

Citibank Sofia and Gloria Palace players became finalists, with Citibank Sofia team (Lyubomir Marinov, Mario Reinsperger, Nikolay Marinov) coming on top in a head-to-head battle. Gloria Palace team placed second (Niki Bojinov, Stoyan Batov).

All of the teams were divided into four main groups by drawing lots. The first two teams from each group qualified for the main scheme and played in direct elimination in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. At the first semifinals the Gloria Palace team played against tennis players of the law office Delchev&Partners, represented by Emil Delchev and Nasko Pavlov. At the second semifinals Citibank team played against M&M Air Cargo Service Bulgaria, represented by Sasho Todorov, Plamen Dimitrov, and Andrey Kendarov.

Valentin Georgiev, executive director AmCham Bulgaria, together with Moni Monov, chief referee at the tournament, awarded the players. The team of Citibank got big bottle of Italian champagne provided by Allied Pickfords Bulgaria, vouchers for weekend stay at Hotel Yastrebets Wellness & Spa, Borovets, and Rossignol sports bags by sport shops chain SLS. Gloria palace team was awarded with rucksacks and a voucher for dinner at Sheraton Sofia Hotel. The semifinal players from M&M and Delchev&Partners got wireless keyboards from Microsoft Bulgaria.

Sports hats and accessories from SLS were given also to the players of Bulgarian VIP Travel marking the most interesting game at the tournament.
