It was the AmCham Bulgaria 16th celebration of July Fourth that made the US community feel like at home. The American College of Sofia provided wonderful location for the event, our member companies supplied lots of food and drinks, guests won ruffle prizes, there were spectacular fireworks, and even the weather was on our side.

Investment trends and perspectives up to 2013, professional training and further education of staff were issues at focus at the Amcham media breakfast held June 24, 2010 at the Elieff Center of AUBG. Guest speakers were: Borislav Stefanov, executive director of the Bulgarian InvestAgency, Amcham board members Stefan Ivanov, Citibank Sofia, vice-president, Thomas Higgins, BAF. Bulgaria to Up Some Taxes to Boost 2011 Revenue

The Bulgarian Ministry of Finance has published proposals for adjustments in the tax system in a bid to increase revenue for the 2011 state budget, Sofia News Agency wrote. The proposals, posted at the Ministry's website, do not involve an overall increase in taxation rates, but introduces greater levy burdens for some cases.

Bulgaria PM: 'I Won't Respond to Political Critics'

Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov stated he does not feel obliged to respond to criticism leveled against his cabinet by opposition Socialist Party and supportive Blue Coalition at the start of the new political season, Sofia News Agency wrote. He also said he does not feel threatened by a non-confidence vote promised by socialists MPs.

Global stock markets send off optimistic week

After the tumultuous August, the world’s stock markets ended the first session of September in more or less bullish mood, Dnevnik wrote. Optimism was sparked by several factors such as the string of global M&A deals, good jobless and industrial production data in the US and China and an encouraging sign by the European Central Bank (ECB) that it will continue to inject short-term liquidity into the market.

Bulgaria to seek longer life for Kozloduy NPP

Bulgarian energy minister Traycho Traykov announced that extending the operation permits of units 5 and 6 of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant is one of the ministry’s top priorities. According to Traykov, the Ministry of Economy is adhering to a clear plan to extend the lifetime of the final two working reactors of Bulgaria’s sole operational nuke plant. The process comprises “nine phases, which ensure maximum protection of national interests.”

Germany agrees to extend nuclear plant life span

Germany's coalition government has decided to extend the life span of the country's nuclear power plants by an average of 12 years, officials say, BBC reported. Under the agreement, some plants will now remain in production until the 2030s, instead of being phased out by 2021 as the previous government wanted.

Being appraisers and guardians of high art Emporiki Bank Bulgaria supports hosting this exclusive exhibition in Bulgaria.” The sculptures of Edgar Degas” presents a full collection of bronze sculptures of Edgar Degas, the most prominent French impressionist, acknowledged by maestro Renoir “as the greatest sculptor of the 19th century”. The exhibition is held under the patronage of the French Embassy in Bulgaria and the Ministry of Culture with the support of the French Cultural Institute and National Art Gallery.

He brings a wealth of experience in sales & marketing, services and general management from his previous roles.
